Notice of additional work – a professional template in Word format

A notice of additional work is the document by which an employee informs their primary employer in writing that they have concluded a contract for additional work with another employer. It is submitted before the additional work begins and replaces the earlier practice of asking for consent – the old consent forms for additional work are no longer applicable.

Additional work is governed by Articles 18.a and 18.b of the Labour Act (Zakon o radu), following the amendments published in NN 151/22. An employee who works full-time for one primary employer, or part-time for several employers so that their total working time is 40 hours per week, may conclude a contract for additional work without anyone’s consent. This template covers both sides of that procedure – the employee’s notice and the confirmation that the employer has received it.

What the template includes

Legal framework and key rules

A contract for additional work may provide for no more than 8 hours per week. Exceptionally, if the working time schedule in the additional work is set as uneven, the weekly working time may exceed 8 hours, but not more than 16 hours per week, provided that the average working time in the additional work over a period of four months does not exceed 8 hours per week. For work of more than 8 hours per week the employee must give a written statement of voluntary consent. Additional work may not be performed by employees who, with their primary employer, work in jobs with special working conditions or on reduced working hours, if the additional work would involve the same kind of duties.

Important – the primary employer does not give consent and cannot prohibit additional work in advance. The employer may request in writing, with reasons, that it be discontinued where justified grounds exist, in particular a non-competition obligation or an overlap with the employer’s own working time schedule.
