Description
POREČ, we are offering a rustic villa with an area of 352 m². The ground floor has an entrance vestibule, a spacious living room, kitchen, dining room, toilet, laundry room, and a spacious covered terrace with an outdoor kitchen and dining area. It contains two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and one bedroom has a Turkish and a Finnish sauna. On the first floor there are two spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and its own terrace with a wonderful view of nature and the sea in the distance. On the large, beautifully landscaped grounds of 1038 m² there is a heated pool with a tavern and a sauna offering privacy thanks to the fully fenced plot. The basement of the house has been converted into a tavern with a large socialising area, a wine cellar, a bar, an auxiliary kitchen and a bathroom. The property has been modernised to EU standards while retaining the traditional Istrian exterior and beauty. It is heated by central underfloor heating, fan coil convectors and a fireplace in the living room. The property is located in a quiet location with several parking spaces and is surrounded by three-hundred-year-old olive and oak trees, in a picturesque little place 15 minutes from the sea, beaches and the centre of Poreč, which is an ideal opportunity for a peaceful family life as well as for engaging in tourism.
Poreč has been inhabited since prehistoric times. During the 2nd century BC, a Roman castrum was built on a small peninsula, which was 400 m long and 200 m wide, and on which the core of the old town stands today. During the reign of Emperor Augustus in the 1st century, the castrum was officially declared a town and included in the Roman colony of Colonia Iulia Parentium. In Roman times Poreč received its first walls, the entire town was walled except for the western side, i.e. the tip of the peninsula, where the temple of Neptune or Jupiter stood. In the 3rd century the town already had an organised Christian community and an early Christian church complex. The Christian community almost completely disappeared during the time of Emperor Diocletian, when the Poreč martyrs St. Maurus and St. Eleutherius also suffered. According to tradition, St. Eleutherius was tied to a stone and thrown into the sea in the Peškera bay. Today, right next to the bay, stands the small 15th-century church of St. Eleutherius.
